Tell Us a Little About Yourself

I was born in the Bay Area of California. I have lived in Washington since I was 10 years old and grew up with a whole lot of family in one home! I have one sibling, a younger sister. I am a proud mom of US Marine veteran. My true passion has always been Accounting and I have my Bachelor of Science in Business Accounting from the University of Phoenix. Even though accounting is my passion I am not your regular sit in the corner accountant. I am very open and will tell you my life story. I have been through a lot and have healed a lot. My journey is always continuing on the path to greatness. Although, my family was very loving my youth was difficult when I moved here to Washington. I didn’t fit in, and it seemed like everyone already had decided who their friends were when I started school in the 5^th grade. I was teased and bullied by classmates. I couldn’t wait to escape school and go roller skating all weekend, because at the skating rink I was seen as myself and not my material worth. I am also a domestic violence survivor and still “do the work” everyday to heal and make better decisions. Through this work I have learned so much and there a couple of things that I use daily – my personal bill of rights and self-care. These two things don’t seem like a lot, but they are easy for me to remember and apply to help me make decisions and/or choices in my life.

In my massage chair, any kind of self-care.

When and Why Did You Join Elevate Health?

I joined EH unofficially in February 2023 and officially in April 2023. I joined EH because I love the organization’s culture and what we are doing for our community.

What Kind of Work Do You Do at Elevate Health?

My work is part of the infrastructure of EH. I work for the finance department and manage a couple of assistants. I oversee payroll, vendor payments, partner payments, cash management, financial statement review and reconciliation. I have been in finance/accounting for nearly 30 years, and I am passionate about my work and how it explains the financial health of our organization.

What Do You Like About Working for Elevate Health?

I have always been the type of person to feel good about the job I have done for my employer but working for EH I now get to have that feeling when I leave for the day that not only do I feel good about doing my job, but I also feel good about the work the organization is doing. It has been a long time coming and I finally get to be involved in making my community a better place to live and love. I love that we are trying to create equitable healthcare for all people. Everyone should be comfortable with the healthcare they receive, and it should not be a financial, emotional or physical burden to receive proper healthcare. Nobody should be afraid to get the whole person care that they need.
